About our logo:
Literally translated, Koshou Ryu Combat JiuJitsu is the school or style of the Tiger.  This is a play on the founders last name, Cushinan.  Therefore it means the Cushinan school or style of Combat JiuJitsu.
The core of Koshou Ryu Combat JiuJitsu comes from two main styles of JiuJitsu that the founder has trained in for most of his martial arts career;  Kitsune Ryu JiuJitsu and Budoshin JuJitsu.  Both systems are paid the highest respect and reflected in the logo.
The yawaras and JiuJitsu Kanji reflect the Kitsune Ryu JiuJitsu, a modern JiuJitsu system based on several older forms of JiuJitsu.  This is also the first JiuJitsu system studied by the founder of Koshou Ryu, which started his path and growth in the martial arts.  Kitsune is lead by O'Sensei Steve Reynolds and Shihan's Doug Knispel Sr. and Jr.
The lotus blossoms surrounding the Yin-Yangs reflect the Budoshin JuJitsu system.  The lotus blossom symbolizes the five spiral steps of learning: patience, repetition, understanding, experimentation and evaluation.  The Yin-Yang symbolizes the circular flow of ki and motion, as well as the flowing nature of the art.  Budoshin JuJitsu is lead by Professor George Kirby.
The square around the Kanji represents four additional styles of cross training by the founder, of which several select techniques or variations are enfused into Koshou Ryu Combat JiuJitsu.  The four syles are Miyama Ryu Combat Jujutsu-lead by Dai-Shihan D'Arcy Rahming, Yoshitsune Traditional & Combat Jujutsu-lead by Soke Michael DePasquale Jr., Nihon Goshin Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu-lead by Kyoshi Darel Chase, and Commando Krav Maga-lead by Chief Instructor Moni Aizik.  Each one of these systems and instructors is outstanding.  I have the highest respect for each one and I thank them for sharing their knowledge.
The square also represents the four cornerstones or pillars of training; Discipline, Integrity, Loyalty and Respect.
